Why Should You Choose Composite Dental Fillings
Do you have a cavity? No one wants a cavity, but thankfully composite dental fillings have allowed them to be almost invisible!
What Are Composite Tooth Fillings?
A tooth-colored dental filling is a filling that has been designed to fill the tooth structure lost from decay. Best part! It disguises the fact that a filling was even done! A composite filling is a resin material that bonds to the outer coating of your tooth.
How Is a Composite Tooth Filling Placed?
There are a few steps involved in placing a composite dental filling. First, we will match the composite to the color of your teeth. As with all fillings, we will remove the decayed portion of your tooth. Now that the part that everyone dreads is over, we will prepare the tooth to bond to the tooth colored filling material. We do this with a series of paint brushes and some water and air. The resin is cured (or made hard) with a special LED light. We will smooth, check your bite and make sure it flosses easily. Tooth colored fillings are able to be chewed on when you leave (don’t bite your numb cheek).
What Are the Benefits of Composite White Fillings?
Some of the top benefits of composite fillings include:
- They are durable enough to stand up to routine wear and tear.
- They match your surrounding teeth, giving you a beautiful smile.
- They tend to be able to be done with limited removal of tooth structure
If you have cavities that need to be filled, consider using a composite dental filling. We would be happy to help you!
