Complete Your Smile with Dental Bridges

There are many reasons why you might be missing a tooth. Your permanent tooth didn’t come in, or perhaps you had it knocked out while playing sports. We offer dental bridges to restore your smile when implants are not a good option. Learn more about how a dental bridge for your teeth can help you replace a missing tooth.

How Does a Dental Bridge Work?

A dental bridge can be one of the options to replace a missing tooth. There are multiple types of dental bridges available based on the location of missing tooth and the health of the existing tooth structure adjacent to the space.

Typically, a dental bridge consists of three dental crowns all fused together. The teeth adjacent to the space are prepared for crowns and serve as the supports. There is then a fake or “bridged” tooth between the supports that fills the space.  Once the procedure is done, you should not be able to notice the difference between the false tooth and your natural teeth. A bridge is a permanent solution to a missing tooth.

How Is a Dental Bridge Made?

The fabrication of a dental bridge is a two visit process. We will prepare your surrounding teeth for the dental bridge similar to how we make a crown. The support teeth become miniature versions of themselves to make room for the porcelain or composite material. We use our digital scanner to capture a picture of these smaller teeth and the dental laboratory designs your specific bridge to orient with adjacent and opposing teeth. At your second visit, the temporary bridge is removed and the final one is permanently cemented into place after we verify the fit, bite and color.

What Are the Benefits of a Dental Bridge?

There are several significant benefits of a dental bridge. They include:

  • A dental bridge can help you restore the appearance of your smile.
  • A dental bridge can restore function where the tooth was missing
  • A dental bridge can help avoid overeruption of the tooth above the space.

Count on our dental team if you want to maximize the benefits of your dental bridge.

Dental Bridges

A bridge is a non-surgical way to replace one or many teeth. A bridge uses the adjacent teeth as anchors to support the missing tooth or teeth. With today’s dental advancements, a bridge can be fabricated in a fairly short period of time, using a metal or nonmetal foundation. Don’t let that missing tooth affect the way you speak, eat, and smile. Bridges yield immediate results that last a lifetime. Ask your dentist what type of bridge may be right for you.
