This probe gives us a millimeter measurement and any number between 1-3 mm means your gums are healthy! The physical examination is done with a small mirror. 

For the cleaning, the team will use a scaler to remove tartar and plaque from between your teeth and around the gumline. Tartar is plaque that has not been removed and cannot be removed without the help of a professional. Once the plaque and tartar are completely removed, the hygienist will polish your teeth with a special paste or a baking soda spray. This is the best part! Next, the hygienist will floss your teeth to make sure all debris is gone. 

At the end of the appointment, Dr. Dawson will come check you to make sure you don’t have any concerns and diagnose any treatment that needs to be done.
